# Projects

> Group subcontractors by job or site, filter the register by project, and share a report for one project.

A project is a job or site. Grouping subcontractors by project lets you filter the register to one job and [share a report](/docs/register/shared-reports) for that job alone, without sending anyone your whole register.

Projects live under **Projects** in the sidebar.

## Create a project

Choose **New project** and enter:

| Field                 | Notes                                                                                                  |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Project name**      | Required, such as Riverfront Medical Pavilion.                                                         |
| **Project code**      | Required. Letters, numbers and hyphens only, up to 32 characters, such as RIV-204. Stored in capitals. |
| **Address**           | Optional.                                                                                              |
| **Starts** / **Ends** | Optional dates. The end cannot be before the start.                                                    |

The project list shows each project's code, how many vendors are on it, its status and dates.

## Put subcontractors on a project

* When adding or editing a vendor, tick **Projects this vendor works on**. A vendor can be on several projects.
* When importing, choose **Assign to a project**: every row in the file is put on that project.

Filter the register by project with the project filter on **Vendors**.

## Plan limits

Starter includes 3 projects, Core 15, and Pro is unlimited.

## Delete a project

Owners and admins can **Delete** a project. This removes the project, not the vendors on it: they stay in your register, unassigned, and the confirmation says how many. Any [share link](/docs/register/shared-reports) scoped to that project is removed with it and stops working. Deleting cannot be undone.

  Projects do not carry their own insurance requirements. Requirements come from the [template](/docs/requirements/templates) assigned to each subcontractor, whichever projects they are on.
