In the app, everyone whose insurance you track, suppliers included, is called a subcontractor. To add one, go to Subcontractors and choose Add subcontractor (or press Ctrl+K / Cmd+K and choose Add a subcontractor). To add many at once, import a spreadsheet.

The fields

The Insurance requirements field decides which template the subcontractor is checked against.

Choose Add subcontractor and WatchMyCover checks the subcontractor against the template straight away. With no certificate yet, the status is No certificate; with no requirements assigned it is Non-compliant, because there is nothing to measure against. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk. A missing name or contact email, or an email address that is not written like one, is shown under the field before anything is saved, and the cursor is put in the first field to fix.
A subcontractor imported without an email address cannot be chased. Their page says No email on file, so chases cannot be sent. Add one. A subcontractor with no agent at all says No insurance agent on file, so chases reach the subcontractor only. A subcontractor with an agent’s name or phone but no email shows them, with Add their email to copy the agent on chases.The agent’s name can also be filled in when you record a certificate: with no agent on file, you are offered to save the certificate’s producer as the agent.

Editing a subcontractor

Open the subcontractor and choose Edit, then Save changes. Saving re-checks the subcontractor immediately. A changed contact email or agent takes effect on the next chase, including chases already queued. When you change the contact email, everything still outstanding is also sent to the new address, including what had already gone to the old one.

Plan limits

Starter includes 25 active subcontractors, Core 100, and Pro is unlimited. Archived subcontractors do not count. As you get close, Overview and Subcontractors say how many are left. When you reach the limit, existing subcontractors keep working, and you are asked to move up a plan before adding another. See Plans and billing.
